Is Your Website Costing You Customers?

Your website might look fine to you. You built it three years ago, it loads eventually, and the information is all there if people scroll far enough. So why aren’t you getting enquiries?

Because your competitors’ websites are better. Not fancier — better at converting visitors into customers.

Here’s what’s probably going wrong.

It’s slow. If your site takes more than 3 seconds to load, roughly half your visitors will leave before they see a single page. Google knows this too, and it factors page speed into your rankings. A slow site means fewer visitors and fewer conversions.

It’s not mobile-friendly. Over 60% of web traffic comes from phones. If your site isn’t designed for mobile first, you’re serving the majority of your visitors a compromised experience. Pinching, zooming, and horizontal scrolling aren’t going to convert anyone.

There’s no clear call to action. Every page on your website should guide visitors toward doing something — calling you, filling in a form, requesting a quote. If someone has to hunt for your contact details, they won’t bother.

The content doesn’t speak to your customer. Most business websites talk about themselves. “We were established in 2005. We pride ourselves on quality.” Your customers don’t care about your company history — they care about whether you can solve their problem. Your website content should answer their questions, not yours.

It’s built on outdated technology. If your site runs on an old theme, a page builder that’s no longer supported, or a version of WordPress from 2019, it’s a security risk and a performance bottleneck. Outdated sites are the number one target for hackers.

The fix isn’t always a full rebuild. Sometimes it’s a speed optimisation, a content rewrite, or a mobile redesign. Sometimes it is a rebuild — but even then, it doesn’t have to cost a fortune.

The first step is understanding what’s actually wrong. That’s where a proper website audit comes in.
